Cardiology Primer

Untitled copy
Excerpt from Dr. Elmayergi’s Cardiology Primer

Our ARHCC Cardiologist and Preceptor, Dr. Nader Elmayergi, produced a fantastic, humour-packed primer for our Abbotsford-Mission Family Practice Residents entering their Cardiology rotation!

We are printing copies of the book for our incoming R1 cohort. I’ll contact you as soon as they are ready for distribution. If you want to grab a peak at it now, you can download the primer on our Residents page.

We thank Dr. Elmayergi for his continued commitment to our Residents’ education and their understanding of the human heart.

Warmly,

Jacqueline

1st Annual Beach Volleyball Tournament

20160623_110602

We celebrated our final academic half day with our 1st Annual Beach Volleyball Tournament held at Mission Springs Pub & Brewery! The R1s + Site Director Dr. Holden Chow competed against the R2s + Program Coach Jacqueline Ashby. It was a close match with the R1s dominating the first game. However, the R2s came back strong overtaking the R1s two games to one!20160621_162355 (1)

The R2s received the coveted Henry Weinhard Award! Best darn root beer this side of Regina! And bragging rights of course!

R1s have to compose a limerick based on their field notes and have it submitted to me by Friday, July 1. This shouldn’t be an issue since you have described on numerous occasions how valuable and instrumental the field notes have been during your learning journey :).

The limericks will be reviewed and a winner announced Friday, July 8th!

Cheers!

Jacqueline

Left to Right: Dr. Alibhai, Me!, Dr. Windt, Dr. Chow, and Dr. Peters.

Last weekend, our UBC Family Practice Residency Program Abbotsford-Mission faculty scrambled up the Sea to Summit trail (6 km trail run, 1 km of vertical!) in Squamish to visit and plan for our first annual Sea to Sky Preceptor Retreat. What an amazing trek and location! We invite you to join us in October to enhance your pedagogical skills, engage with fellow physicians, and explore new territory in education.

Cheers!
