Join us for the UBC Teacher’s Toolbox: Sea to Sky Retreat hosted by UBC’s Family Practice Residency Program! This two-day experience is open and encouraging of all Preceptors and Residents of the UBC Family Practice Residency Program to explore topics including Indigenous Health & Wellbeing; Cultural Sensitivity, Safety, & Competency; Clinical Reasoning; Evidence-Based Medicine; and more!
This retreat is designed to:
- Identify and discuss major educational trends likely to influence residency programs in the next decade.
- Reflect on your learning journey and determine how your experience and narrative informs your teaching.
- Actively explore the themes including Teaching Excellence, Environmental Health, and Indigenous Health & Wellbeing initiatives.
Date & Location
When: Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 1.
Location: The BlueShore Environmental Learning Centre at Cheakamus Centre, Squamish.
Accommodations: Executive Suites Resort, Squamish. Be prepared for mountain weather! Learn more about Cheakamus Centre.

This event is free to all UBC Preceptors and Residents of the UBC Family Practice Residency Program.
Registration Information
This includes:
1. Two-day retreat at Cheakamus Centre, Squamish.
2. Lunch and Snacks (Saturday & Sunday)
3. Complimentary Preceptor Appreciation Dinner at the Squamish Executive Suites Hotel.
*Partners attending the Evening Social are an additional cost of $50/per person.
*Children (7-12): $20/per person.
*Children 6 and under: free.
Please bring a cheque made payable to “UBC” for your guests attending the dinner.
Accommodations (not included in registration): Please reserve your room at the Executive Suites Hotel & Resorts in Squamish. When booking, please indicate that you are with the “UBC Faculty of Medicine Abbotsford-Mission” group to ensure that you receive the applicable discounted rate and are included in the guest room block. Unfortunately, you can only secure the discounted rate by contacting the front desk by phone or by email. The discounted rate is not available if you are booking online. Please reserve your room by Tuesday, August 29, 2017 to receive our special rate of $119 (one bedroom) and $179 (two bedroom). All rates are subject to taxes of 15%.

Accreditation Statement
The University of British Columbia Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide study credits for continuing medical education for physicians. This course has been reviewed and approved by the UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development. This Group Learning course meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 6.0Mainpro+ credits. This course is an Accredited Group Learning Activity eligible for up to 6.0 MOC Section 1 credits as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Each physician should claim only those credits he/she actually spent in the activity.
